What is Endometriosis?

Endometriosis is a chronic condition in which tissue similar to the lining of the uterus grows outside the uterus—typically on the ovaries, fallopian tubes, or pelvic lining. This tissue responds to the menstrual cycle by thickening and bleeding, but it has no way to exit the body. As a result, it causes inflammation, scar tissue, cysts (known as endometriomas), and sometimes fertility challenges.

At ISHA IVF & Fetal Medicine Centre, we provide advanced Endometriosis Treatment in Palanpur, combining accurate diagnosis, minimally invasive options, and fertility-preserving solutions tailored to each patient.

Types & Symptoms of Endometriosis

Endometriosis appears in several forms. Common types include:

  • Ovarian Endometriosis – Causes “chocolate cysts” that may impact fertility
  • Bowel & Bladder Endometriosis – Triggers painful urination or bowel movements
  • Deep Infiltrating Endometriosis – Affects pelvic organs and causes severe pain
  • Scar, Umbilical & Inguinal Endometriosis – Found in surgical scars, groin, or navel areas
  • Sciatic Nerve Endometriosis – Causes radiating leg or back pain

Common Symptoms:

  • Severe menstrual cramps
  • Pain during or after intercourse
  • Pain while urinating or passing stool (especially during periods)
  • Heavy, irregular periods
  • Digestive issues like bloating, constipation, or nausea
  • Difficulty getting pregnant
Causes & Risk Factors

Though the exact cause is unknown, possible contributors include:

  • Retrograde menstruation
  • Hormonal or immune dysfunction
  • Genetic predisposition
  • Embryonic cell transformation

Risk factors: Early periods, short cycles, heavy bleeding, family history, and high estrogen levels.

Diagnosis begins with a pelvic exam and imaging such as an ultrasound or CT scan. Laparoscopy may be performed for direct visualization and accurate detection. Endometriosis is classified into four stages:

    1. Minimal – Few small lesions, no scarring
    2. Mild – Slightly deeper lesions
    3. Moderate – Presence of cysts and adhesions
  • Severe – Extensive tissue growth, large cysts, and organ involvement

There is no permanent cure, but effective treatment can significantly reduce symptoms and improve fertility. At ISHA IVF, we offer:

1. Pain Management

NSAIDs, physiotherapy, and heat therapy to ease discomfort.

2. Hormonal Therapy

Includes oral contraceptives, progestins, or GnRH agonists to suppress tissue growth.

3. Surgical Options

  • Laparoscopic Surgery – Removes lesions while preserving fertility
  • Hysterectomy – Reserved for severe cases where childbearing is not a goal

Endometriosis can block fallopian tubes, impair ovarian function, or alter the uterine lining. At ISHA IVF, we provide fertility-focused care—offering IVF, IUI, and laparoscopic interventions to improve conception chances.

Many women delay treatment because endometriosis mimics other conditions like IBS or ovarian cysts. At ISHA IVF, we combine expert diagnosis, advanced laparoscopic care, and personalized fertility planning to help you manage symptoms and achieve your health goals.
